There’s an alternative to taking blood thinners for people who need one. It’s called WATCHMAN™. The only FDA-approved implant proven to reduce stroke risk in people with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem (also referred to as non-valvular AFib) (Boston Scientific, 2018).

The Watchman is a permanent implanted device placed in the left atrial appendage of the heart and is effective in reducing stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation. This can allow patients on blood thinners, such as coumadin, xarelto or eliquis, to discontinue the use of their medication without running the risk of bleeding.

Arch Health offers evaluations for the Watchman procedure at the following locations:

  • Poway – Pomerado Outpatient Pavilion office
  • Escondido – Citracado Pkwy office
