Poway, Calif. – The statewide Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) has named Arch Health Partners a top performing physician organization for the second consecutive year.
IHA rated more than 200 physician groups and Arch Health Partners was selected as one of the top 44 in California for 2010. Awards were presented at the IHA Pay for Performance Stakeholders Meeting Thursday (Sept. 22) in Los Angeles.
“We all think that we give excellent medical care, but it is nice to see that our efforts have been validated by an external source,” says Arch Health Partners Medical Director Dr. Scott Flinn.
“This should help our patients feel confident that they will receive the best quality care available when they come to Arch Health Partners,” Dr. Flinn adds.
Arch Health Partners has more than 50 physicians at locations in Poway and Ramona and plans to open an office soon in San Marcos.
IHA is a statewide leadership group that promotes quality improvement, accountability and affordability of healthcare in California.
Arch Health Partners was one of only four medical groups in San Diego County to receive the performance award this year. Selection was based on four measures: clinical quality, patient experience, information technology-enabled systemness and coordinated diabetes care.
IHA’s four Pay for Performance (P4P) program measures are being used by seven health plans -Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, CIGNA HealthCare of California, Health Net of California, UnitedHealthcare and Western Health Advantage –to calculate incentive payments for distribution to physician organizations in 2011.
Since 2004, health plans have paid more than $360 million in incentive payments to physician organizations for outstanding quality and service. Each health plan develops its own formula to determine payments, taking into consideration recommendations from the IHA P4P Steering Committee.
Arch Health Partners was named a top performer last year after being selected as one of the most improved physician groups the previous year.
“While we are thrilled to have been recognized, this also motivates us to continually look for ways to further improve our services,” says Mary Ellen Leahy, Director of Performance Improvement and Continuity of Care. “We want patients at Arch Health Partners to receive the best possible care,” she adds.
